About the course
The Smardt Technical Training Course is a three-day program designed to equip technicians with the skills and tools necessary to maintain Smardt products. The certification received upon completion of this course authorizes the participants to carry out regular maintenance and basic troubleshooting of Smardt equipment but does not certify them as a third party trainer on Smardt, Kiltech, or Danfoss equipment nor does it grant permission to start Smardt chillers unassisted. Certification will remain valid for a period of 36 months, after which, Smardt reserves the right to require additional advanced or refresher training in order to maintain certification.
Smardt reserves the right to enroll applicants from multiple organizations in any course administered by Smardt and the right to reject applicants or refuse certification at its sole discretion if the contractor or technician pre-requisites listed below are not met.
Computer pre-requisites
Participants are required to bring a laptop computer that either runs or can emulate Windows 32 bit Operating System (OS) as well as open PDF and MS Office documents. Please note that Windows 10 has not been tested with any of Smardt’s products yet. Participants must also have access to and be able to operate a mobile internet device when servicing Smardt equipment.

Cancellation policy
A cancellation fee of 30% will apply if attendance is cancelled within 30 calendar days of a scheduled course, 60% if cancelled within 14 calendar days, and 100% if cancelled within 7 calendar days or in the case of an absence.
Smardt reserves the right to cancel a scheduled course if enrollment is insufficient. Smardt will provide written notice of its intention to cancel a minimum of two weeks prior to the scheduled course date. Please confirm scheduling with the Service Department prior to making your travel arrangements.
Contractor pre-requisites
- Clean tubes/coils

- Reclaim chiller refrigerant charge
- Evacuate chiller below 500 microns
- Replace compressors/components

Course outline
The three-day course covers the revolutionary Danfoss (“Turbocor/DTC”) compressor technology, the innovative Kiltech controller, and the energy efficient Smardt chiller family. Each day begins at 8am and lasts for approximately 8.5 hours including a one hour lunch.

About the course
This level 2 Smardt Chiller academy course is tailored for the service technician who will gain an understanding of how to maintain the equipment at a high level once the warranty maintenance contract has expired with Smardt. This training class is held at the Smardt facility Bayswater North, Victoria. Smardt encourages that the maintenance agreement is retained with Smardt to provide and implement the correct maintenance procedures to OEM standards. Smardt acknowledges that there will be times where other service companies will provide preventative maintenance on the Smardt equipment. This course will allow for such scenarios, whilst Smardt technicians remain available to provide higher level technical services.

This course provides the individual technician with the information to carry out maintenance schedules outside the warranty period.
This certification will remain valid of 18 months, beyond which a refresher course may need to be attended unless otherwise indicated by Smardt.

24 hours over 3 days
- First day 9.30am - 5:00pm
- Second day 8.00am - 5.00pm
- Third day 8.00am - 3.30 pm
Cost
$3,250 AUD per AU trainee
**These prices are all exclusive of GST and are per person per company. A cancellation fee of 30% is payable when cancellation occurs within 14 days of the scheduled class date, 60% is payable if cancellation occurs within 7 days, and 100% is payable if cancellation occurs within 24 hours, or in the event of non-attendance.
**Costs associated with travel, accommodations, and transportation are the sole responsibility of the participants.

Preferred Technician Pre-requisites
Documented Education or related work experience (1 of the following 3)
- Engineering Degree /Associate's Degree /Professional Certificate
- Certificate 3 – Airconditioning / Refrigeration
- 5 years minimum experience with chillers and central plant

- Understanding of basic refrigeration principals and terms
- Restricted electrical licence *
*Training of electrical components may be restricted if applicants are not suitably licences to work on chiller equipment.
Adequate Computer Skills
- Windows 10/11 PC with administration rights, capable of running Danfoss SMT program
- Familiar with Microsoft Windows
- Familiar with Microsoft Office
- Able to copy/paste files/folders
- Able to open, create, and save files

- Able to download and install software ( PC administration access required during course
Although the above is not mandatory to attend Smardt training it is highly recommended to have these credentials to obtain the goals and outcomes from the course provided
Candidates who attend this course will be provided in detail the sound understanding of Smardt Chillers and Turbocor compressor technologies. This will provide attendees with knowledge, experience, and confidence to carry out standard maintenance and general diagnostics of Smardt chillers.
Please note that completion of Smardt Chiller academy level 2 course does not certify graduates as a Smardt Authorised Service Contractor (“SASC”) for the purpose of commissioning and or warranty work on behalf of Smardt.
