Position : Group Product Development Manager
Department: Engineering
Reports to: CTO & CEO
Location: Montreal

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drafting, implementation and monthly reporting against board-approved product development programs
  • Management of global teams and resources required to achieve these plans, specifically in terms of product performance, product costing and minimizing resources
  • Managing internal technical communications across an array of different audiences.
  • Entrepreneurial approach to technology development opportunities.
    It is unlikely that these goals and programs can be effectively achieved without high-level professional skills in
  • Development of detailed specifications and bills of materials from draft product specifications
  • Design of pressure vessels and heat-exchangers, including both thermal and mechanical
  • Development and submission of applications for government R&D grants and other assistance
  • Verification, preparation and submission of technical information for new products and product improvements to internal and external authorities
  • Communications with certifying authorities – UL, CRN, ASME, AHRI, Eurovent
  • Relationship development internally and externally
  • Database management within the group engineering repository and its interface with ERP
  • Management of 3D drafting within Inventor and Vault environments
  • Harmonization of the product range, heat-transfer and control equipment across the Group
  • Software programs covering project management, AutoCAD, 3D drafting and MS Office.

Requirements

  • Tertiary engineering qualifications of a high standard
  • Outstanding track record of relevant work in HVACR engineering
  • Outstanding communication skills in English, with French very desirable and other languages highly valued.

Position : Engineering Manager
Department: Engineering
Reports to: CTO
Location: Montreal

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the business unit Engineering department including all of its activities and members
  • Team management to achieve planned results on time and within budget
  • Project management in the areas of mechanical and electrical engineering
  • Liaison with overseas partners, document exchange, management and reporting
  • Development and enforcement of data management within QA to ASME and ISO
  • Identifying and utilizing competent consultants and suppliers for the detailed design phase within mechanical, electrical and instrumentation disciplines
  • Conducting product improvement and product development processes
  • Adhering to Group’s worldwide product harmonization strategy
  • Testing, evaluating and specifying mechanical and electrical components
  • Compliance and approval of pressure vessels within CRN, ASME and other jurisdictions

To be considered for the position the candidate must satisfy the following criteria

  • Minimum 7-10 years in a similar role
  • Currently registered engineering status in either Mechanical or Electrical & Controls fields
  • Experience in either (process or pressure vessels industries) or (process automation and controls)
  • Solid understanding of Project Management
  • Computer literacy covering project management, AutoCAD 3D and MS suite
  • Ability to work in a multi-discipline and multi-cultural environment

 

Position : Latin America Regional Sales Manager
Department: Sales
Reports to: General Manager
Location: Montreal

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position
  • Degree in Engineering or HVAC studies
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken), French would be an asset.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • System implementation experience is an asset
  • College training in instrumentation and automation or in electro mechanics, industrial maintenance or electrodynamics
  • Ability to work with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic components, and with PLCs
  • Ability to travel 50%+ on the road and with flights to various locations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to support current accounts, as well as business development in other markets (including Mexico, Caribbean, South America).
  • Support field sales, engineering and other departments as required.
  • Provide timely and accurate response to proposal requests.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers and internal departments throughout the life cycle of each job to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
  • Provide customer feedback to engineering and R&D for future product development.
  • Track proposal activity from external sales functions and weekly status reports.
  • Review customer requests and develop equipment proposals to meet customers' needs.

  • Provide customer with proper chiller selections to best meet their application and minimize product cost.
  • Present product advantages to potential customers at customer sites, industry meetings and trade shows such as ASHRAE.
  • Analyze Smardt product pricing vs. competitive products in the market place.
  • Provide product specifications and requirements for future product enhancements.
  • Support the creation of user manuals for installation, operation and maintenance.
  • Support Marketing to create literature, sales material and standard presentations.

Position : Sales Application Engineer
Department: Sales

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to support current accounts, as well as develop various markets.
  • Support field sales, engineering and other departments as required.

Requirements

  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken), Spanish would be an asset
  • Able to manage complex technical projects from beginning to end.
  • Detail oriented, accurate, and extremely responsive.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and follow through skills.
  • Strong PC skills including MS Office, E-Mail and internet.
  • Ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • BS in engineering required, masters or PE license preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial HVAC products, customers, competitors and market.

Position : Senior Thermal Design Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports to: CTO & CEO
Location: Montreal

Responsibilities

  • Development of shell and tube, brazed plate and welded plate condensers and evaporators for high-efficiency oil-free centrifugal chillers.
  • Management and conduction of major development projects from concept to lab prototype to field prototype to production.
  • Software program development including algorithm development, ERP integration, project management and Six-Sigma.
  • Project management in financial as well as technical domains.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years appropriate experience in designing, testing and production of shell and tube, welded and brazed plate vessels inc. geothermal applications
  • Minimum 10 years of appropriate practical experience in the design, rating and testing of all types of heat transfer equipment, including air cooled and water cooled systems
  • Specific competence with ASME and TEMA calculations
  • Specific competence in development of in-house selection software
  • Specific experience in working with components and parts suppliers in HVACR in order to ensure specific performance and zero defects
  • Specific experience in working with ASHRAE standard 90.1
  • Specific experience in working with range of standard refrigerants
  • Specific experience working with oil and gas industrial applications of heat transfer systems
  • Development experience with brazed microchannel condenser design and testing including familiarity with differential alloy specification and corrosion behavior
  • Development experience with recuperators, condensers, evaporators and system design in Organic Rankine Cycle applications, both air cooled and water cooled
  • Creation of technical papers and presentations in thermodynamics with HVACR applications.
  • PhD in thermodynamics, using standard tools including FEA, flow modeling and construction of mathematical models
  • Results-oriented professional engineer.
  • Ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • Strong communication skills in English and French; other languages highly valued. Experience living and working in different countries an asset.
